I really loved this film! Interesting info on the commentary - thanks for referencing that. I can't square the details you give of the commentary with the film though. To me, the film was clearly about the hypocrisy of Christianity (& perhaps all organised religions). One Eye is clearly Odin, and the violence of the Christians exposes their inherent contradiction.

I did not like this movie at all. I much prefer to watch The Passion of Christ.

spoiler ahead: one eye is unstoppable force. he kills everyone, who has go in fight with him. so at the end he gives up and die but in the same scene he has left the world, when he has finished his stone-tower. what do u think? was this odin on a journey?

Not knowing or caring about norse sagas and wanting to do a viking space film sounds like a ver Winding Refn thing to say...

WOW, I can't believe like this It is super horrible! It was another preachy movie from Hollywood. It was not funny at all. If you like the preachy speeches at the Oscars or the Golden Globes and you hate yourself you might like Downsizing.

I just watched it the other day for the first time. I knew absolutely nothing about it at all, zilch, so it was just payoff after payoff for me. Fantastic movie. Best I've seen in a long time.

This movie is based on some ancient Greek story so it MUST be profound. What BS. It's a lame movie for college graduates who want to be sophisticated.

Branagh just butchered the character of Poirot and doesn’t even understand his introspective nature. This version had no consistency and it’s just a woke money grab made by an egotistical narcissist. However my favourite version is the 2010 version because it’s very engaging and truer to the story and the ending is very powerful.

I haven't watched this movie since it came out, and it's always stuck out in my mind. The reason being, it's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Almost nothing happens over the course of the whole movie, and it's only redeeming quality is that it's got some good cinematography. But beyond that, good God this movie is boring. It's only an hour and a half long, but you quite literally spend upwards of thirty minutes watching the cast sit around on a boat and then aimlessly walk around in a forest. They barely say a word to each other the whole time. Awful movie.

There were so many things in this movie that just made zero sense and were so imlausible. I get it..its an action/thriller type movie but still. i expected alot better with that cast. I actually like the main actor but this is was not a great performance from anyone. the main villian was beyond plain but he also has no repercussions for threatening this mans wife and daughter. like he was just forgotten about.

Fantastic movie. It's not a Spielberg so if that's the over romanticized movie you're looking for then give this a miss. This raw and dark, doesn't attempt to fully develop the characters and the plot, leaving a lot to the view to fill in. It's much much much better than anything Hollywood can produce. Very highly recommended!!!!

This movie was total shit...

I really enjoyed this film. I don't think every film needs to answer everything and tie up every loose end. I found the impact of it's big statements fun anyway, and it gave me tons to think about for hours after watching it. I totally loved most of the performances, and I really feel in love with the love story and the final message about acts of kindness in an apparently irredeemable world.

The comparison to Apocalypse Now is quite a stretch. But the Lord of the flies reference is ok.

This movie is historically accurate! They cast the right actors for this movie (even though their characters were younger than their portrayers) and I love it!

I actually loved this movie! Very fresh, unpredictable, funny scenes about modern capitalism... vs the Scandinavian utopia. I liked the device about the tunnels taking him to each new phase of life. Weird to me so many hated it... It wasn't cliche at all!

It's that dogs name, no insult intended, if the millennium snowflakes don't like it I suggest they don't watch it. Dambusters remake..,..NO 633 Squadron remake....YES providing it's done right and sticks more closely to the book.

Best review of the film yet. I was enthralled by the first third, but once they boarded the boat... whole thing went off the rails. And then, I knew -- this film is artsy AF. And not in the good sense. Last shot was hilariously bad. Going back to the "Northman" now.

I thought it was ok too when I saw it for the first time. Having said that, I've recently re watch it and it blew my mind. I think is one of those movies you have to let it sink in. If you have no plans for the weekend... watch the original and then t2 again. You'll see it in a new light

While it was very well-acted, the script is decidedly weak. The scriptwriter tried to be clever and profound while the profoundness was not there, and the basic story was very simple. The numerous shifts back and forth in time, each revealing only tiny bits of additional background or information, are exceedingly confusing. I wonder if the film would be better if the story was just told linearly, or at least with just a few important flashbacks. As it was, I doubt you could follow the film fully while watching, even if you had already read the full written synopsis beforehand. The first crime scene, which was actually also the last, was meant surprise the viewer, but it led only led to numerous internal inconsistencies in the plot. The basic premise was implausible. Erin's identity was clearly blown, and why did the gang leader suddenly, after 15 years, suddenly "declared war" again by sending her the note? I agree with the reviewer that it was not going to be enjoyable as a cinematic release. For me, it was good enough for a one-time watch, but I had to rewind ten times or more to clear up the confusions - the latter being created by the scriptwriter in her numerous "rewinding".

I kind of enjoyed the atmosphere but all in all really weird and weak movie. It felt art housy and symbolic more than an actual story, and somewhat pretensious. I totally agreed with your review. Propably wont want to watch it ever again

It's built more like a novel than a conventional narrative film, which seems to be off-putting for many viewers.
